Cookie Policy – Royalsea
Start playingThis page explains how cookies work on Royalsea, what we store when you visit this information portal, and how you can control them through your browser settings. We keep things straightforward: cookies help the site remember your preferences and let us understand how visitors use our pages, but you're always in control.
What cookies mean here
A cookie is a small text file saved by your browser when you visit a website. It might store a session ID, a language choice, or a timestamp — nothing sensitive on its own, but useful for keeping the site working smoothly across multiple page loads. Some cookies live only until you close the tab; others stay for weeks or months, depending on their job.
On this portal we use cookies to remember which sections you've read, whether you've dismissed a notice, and — with your permission — to see which pages get the most traffic. We don't track you across other sites, and we don't sell that information to anyone.
Which ones this portal sets
Strictly necessary cookies keep the site functioning. These handle your session when you navigate between pages, remember that you've accepted (or declined) our cookie notice, and prevent duplicate form submissions. You can't turn these off without breaking basic features, but they store no personal details and expire when you leave.
Analytics cookies — if you consent — tell us which articles are read most, how long people spend on a page, and where visitors arrive from. We use this to improve the content and spot broken links. These cookies are optional: decline them and the site works exactly the same way, we just won't know you were here.
We don't use advertising cookies on this portal. No retargeting, no ad-network trackers, no profiles built from your browsing.
Third parties and what they bring
Some parts of the site load external resources — embedded videos, social-share buttons, or a map widget. Those services may set their own cookies the moment the element loads, and we don't control what they store or how long they keep it. YouTube, for instance, drops tracking cookies if you play an embedded video; Google Fonts may log your IP address when it serves a typeface.
We've chosen these providers carefully and we load their scripts only where they're genuinely useful, but once a third-party resource is on the page, its own privacy policy applies. Check the policies of YouTube, Google, and any other service you see referenced in the page source if you want the full technical detail.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies, either globally or site by site. The steps vary slightly:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. You can block third-party cookies, clear existing ones, or add exceptions for individual sites.
- Firefox — Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. Choose standard, strict, or custom tracking protection; clear cookies from the same panel.
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy. Tick "Block all cookies" to go nuclear, or use "Prevent cross-site tracking" for a middle ground.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions. Block third-party cookies or clear data from specific sites.
Deleting cookies logs you out of sites that rely on them and resets any saved preferences. Blocking them entirely can break logins, shopping baskets, and anything that needs to remember you between visits — though purely informational sites like this one will mostly keep working.
Declining without breaking the site
When you first land here, a banner asks whether you're happy with analytics cookies. Click "Decline" and the site functions normally — you'll read every article, follow every link, and send a contact form if you need to. The only difference is that we won't know you visited.
Strictly necessary cookies still run because they're required for the site to work at all, but they store no personal information and they're not used for tracking. If you've declined analytics and later change your mind, clear your cookies and reload the page — the banner will reappear.
When this policy changes
We'll update this page whenever we add a new type of cookie, switch analytics providers, or embed a new third-party service. The date at the foot of the page shows when it was last revised. Major changes — like introducing advertising cookies where none existed before — will trigger a new consent prompt, so you're not caught off guard.
For questions about how we handle your data more broadly, see our privacy policy. For anything else, write to [email protected] and we'll reply within two working days.
